“In June 2007, the Danang Sculpture Center received commission from Mrs. Gunn Harbitz, a Norwegian sculptor, to make a public artwork for Oslo commune, the “Flow/Flyt”. It was really a huge work, consisting 2 pieces of light granite of over 4m3/piece (345 x 250 x 42 cm). It took nearly 4 months to seek for such big blocks, then pulling them out from a mountainous valley, craning by two big trucks and transporting to the Center. We started carving the Flyt in October 2007. The carvers worked alongside with Mrs. Gunn during February 2008 and finished the sculpture in March. However, due to its overweight and over height, a big problem occurred in terms of the shipment to Oslo and high shipping costs. Until the end of June 2008, the sculpture was shipped to Oslo by a 40” high container with great efforts from the Center and a shipping company. Below are some pictures of the sculpture's working processes”.
